Spiritual Counselling
Spiritual Counselling takes the Soul, rather than the Mind, as its starting point of balance. It has an expanded view of life - recognizing that the world is a complex mystery - and it take into account belief systems, universal and personal energy systems, intuitive psychic realities, karmic interplay, subconscious states of awareness, metaphysical experiences, spiritual theology, spiritual presence and higher-self cosmic connections.
Life is innately personal and it is critical - at the individual level - that we build a unique, flowing relationship with it. Ideally, that relationship is organizing and without force.
With the Soul being the starting point, individuals come from the heart - whilst not forgetting their head - and from that heart space, they care for the sacred interdependence of all life. Compassion for the Self and compassions for others is a core concept for personal and collective growth.
Spiritual Counselling is holistic - there is no separation, there is no duality between personal or collective responses and reaction - all is intrinsically linked. Such Counselling promotes, supports and grows an awareness that life experiences become our greatest tool, with the integration of personal pains and personal journeys.
Our Spiritual Counsellor, Douglas Colston, has pursued his own spiritual journey and is well-placed to assist clients as they journey on their individual paths. In addition to his personal experience, of course, he has undertaken undergraduate and post-graduate training in comparative Religious and Theology studies, Psychology and Counselling. He is also a Member of the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT).
Douglas has a keen appreciation of Cross-Cultural issues and an understanding of Spiritual Emergency, in addition to other issues of Spirituality. He recognizes - and is committed to - a spiritual journey in his own life and the lives of others and through a focus on the core interconnectedness of all, he creates an open heart connection and a mindfulness state allowing a personal unfolding for clients.
What can you expect from Spiritual Counselling?
Outcomes from Spiritual Counselling vary as it is experiential and focuses on the client's individual experiences and reality. The emphasis of Spiritual Counselling is on wholeness and assisting the client to achieve better inner balance and integration of all dimensions of the Self.
Each client is seen as an individual and the sessions are non-prescriptive and individually tailored - there is an assumption that we are innately motivated towards achieving our highest potential of awareness and fulfilment (and the role of Spiritual Counselling is to support the realization of that potential while trusting the client's process).
The journey can be blissful and awakening, but it can also be challenging. Some people may have intensely spiritual (or peak) experiences, while others will move significantly towards self-realization. Again, some experience a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around them, while others will become intensely relaxed - and some people can have intensely transformative experiences.
Ultimately, it is a journey of faith - faith in our spiritual identity, our Self, our potential and the path.
Costs
Spiritual Counselling sessions are charged at $70 for each 1-hour session (and for frequent clients, there's a special bonus - each fifth session is free!).
